    Supporting Families. Empowering Independence.
NuWave Family Services is proud to be a participating provider in the Coordinated Family Support (CFS) Pilot Program, created by California’s Department of Developmental Services and the Inland Regional Center. This innovative program supports adults with developmental disabilities who choose to live in the family home by offering coordinated, individualized, and culturally respectful services that help families thrive and individuals grow.

Our Mission
NuWave Family Services is dedicated to strengthening families by supporting adults with developmental disabilities who choose to live at home. We believe every individual should have the opportunity to thrive within their family unit—and every family should have the support they need to make that possible.

What Sets Us Apart
We offer tailored, flexible services built around the individual’s needs and family’s goals. Our team is trained to respect cultural, linguistic, and family values while collaborating closely with regional centers and other care partners.

Staff Qualifications

  • Direct support staff must speak the preferred language of the consumer and honor the family’s cultural background.

  • Our team meets CFS program standards: either an Associate’s degree in human services or 3+ years’ experience in service coordination.

  • Supervisors hold either a Bachelor’s in human services or an Associate’s degree with 3+ years’ experience.

Our Work

Part of the CFS Pilot Program
Through the California Family Services (CFS) Pilot Program, we are working alongside the Inland Regional Center to offer new, wraparound services that focus on:

  • Preventing out-of-home placements

  • Supporting family units through crises

  • Creating lasting connections between families and resources

  • Reducing the need for hospitalization or higher levels of care

How We Help

  • In-home support and behavioral coaching

  • Connection to therapeutic and respite services

  • Case coordination and family advocacy

  • Crisis prevention and intervention planning

Why It Matters
This work helps individuals remain with their families, improves their quality of life, and fosters greater long-term stability. Our goal is to empower caregivers and reduce reliance on restrictive service models.

What is the CFS Program?

The Coordinated Family Support (CFS) service is designed specifically for adults (ages 18 and older) with developmental disabilities who live with their families. It was developed in response to feedback from families who felt current services did not meet their needs.

CFS helps families:

  • Coordinate and schedule services they already receive

  • Plan for the future, including backup care and housing transitions

  • Access community resources, public benefits, and transportation

  • Train family members and caregivers to better support the individual

Who's Eligible?

Adults 18+ who:

  • Have a qualifying developmental disability
  • Receive services through a Regional Center
  • Live at home with their family

What to Expect

  1. Assessment (6–12 hours): A CFS provider meets with your family to explore your goals and needs.

  2. Service Plan Development: Together, we create a personalized plan that identifies the supports you need.

  3. Ongoing Support: You’ll receive wraparound services based on your needs—with flexibility as life evolves.

  4. Check-ins & Feedback: You may be asked to complete brief surveys to help the state improve CFS services.

Why CFS Matters?

  • Prevents unnecessary out-of-home placements or hospitalizations

  • Respects family values, cultures, and languages

  • Encourages long-term stability and independence

  • Designed with flexibility to adapt as needs change
